Located on the site of the former pit head, Betteshanger Business will become a low carbon and sustainable business and education park for companies in food security, environmental technology, life sciences (including agri-tech) and green technologies.
The first phase of development will see the creation of a 6000m2 Business Incubation Hub, designed to the highest levels of environmental sustainability.
Focussed on the development of small and micro businesses, the project will create a route for start-up and small businesses to access flexible, high quality commercial environments, new markets, research and development opportunities and training. The Hub will be supported by an integrated programme of training and development and professional mentoring through Hadlow College, with access to the use of the wider Betteshanger site for training and showcasing.
An Educational Centre, incorporating Further and Higher Education will be developed and delivered through the Hadlow Group. The formal educational offer will be focussed primarily on part time delivery, with potential areas of focus to include commercial horticulture, agro-ecology and nature conservation.
Betteshanger Business is a £40m project, which will be funded through a mixture of private sector investment and public sector seed funding.
