Date: Monday 3rd June 2019 - Tuesday 4th June 2019
Time: 12:30pm - 5:00pm
From 26 November 2015, due to a change in legislation, it became an offence for anyone to use Plant Protection Products (PPPs) authorised for professional use unless they hold an appropriate qualification in the safe use of pesticides. If you were born before 31 Dec 1964, previously you could use PPPs on your own land without the need for a qualification (this was known as ‘Grandfather Rights’).
Our sister organisation, Hadlow College, offers 3 separate pesticide courses, awarded by City & Guilds, that meet the legislation for sprayer operators and will entitle you to spray on your own property and on the property of others.
The introductory course in the Principles in the Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides (PA1) will assist you in complying with current legislation surrounding the storage, record-keeping and environmental issues of pesticide use. An online assessment will take place on the second day.
NOTE: a PA1 certificate alone does not permit you to apply pesticides. A certificate for a 2nd practical module such as PA2 or PA6 is also required.
Course fee: £225
Course length: 2 days
Awarding body: City & Guilds of London Institute
Entry requirements: A good basic grasp of English and Mathematics
