Date: Sunday 5th August 2018
Time: 10:00am - 6:00pm
We celebrate one of Betteshanger’s defining features at our annual Wind Festival.
Sit back and watch the pros from Kent Kite Flyers fill the sky with their colourful shapes and creations (11am-5pm). Bring along the family and enjoy a sunny day of kite-flying.
Make your own kite (£3, with kits provided by Kent Kite Flyers), sign up for a kite buggy workshop and learn how the power of wind generates electricity from our friends at Vattenfall.
Entry to the Event Village is free.
Kite Buggy Workshop
Get involved with one of the most exhilarating extreme sports in the world! Using a power kite, the wind and a three-wheeled cart, speeds in excess of 50mph can be achieved. Learning to kite buggy is actually a lot easier than you would imagine. Unlike kite landboarding where balance is essential, kite buggying is performed seated using your legs for steering and arms to control and fly the kite.
- Learn how to fly a kite (45 mins) – The kite buggy lesson will start with a brief introduction including safety, site assessment and the basic theory behind kite flying. It’s then swiftly onto the fun part – learning to fly the kites and generating the power to get you moving in the kite buggy.
- Onto the buggy (45 mins) – After covering the kite flying skills, it’s into the buggy, introducing the steering combined with the kite flying already learnt, we aim to get you moving in both directions and whizzing up and down the track in no time.
Our Kite Buggy Workshops are £30 per person. Spaces are limited as group sizes are small. Participants must be aged 10 or over.
