Car parking

We operate a barrier-less pay on foot car parking system which uses Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology. Charges apply all day, every day, with the charge dependent upon your length of stay.

You don’t need to pay for parking on arrival. Number plate recognition cameras record your entry time and calculate the fee owed when you leave. No ticket is required.

When you’re ready to leave, enter your full registration number at the pay kiosk and your parking fee will be shown on the screen – this will be calculated based on your length of stay. Our machines take cards and coins.

You can also pay for your parking online at up to 48 hours after your visit.

If you’re a Betteshanger Member, you do not need to enter your registration details. You can come and go as you please.

Parking tariffs (from 1st March 2016):

0 - 20 mins Free
20 mins - 3 hours £2
3 hours and over £3

Charges apply to motorbikes, cars and minibuses (up to 17 seats), all day, every day. Coaches are free. You can enter Betteshanger Park on foot or by bike for free. Blue Badge holders are exempt from charges but are required to take their badge to a member of staff at Bike Hire in order to have their vehicle registration removed from the ANPR system.

If you use the Park regularly, you’ll find our Annual Membership provides significant savings.

Where payment is not made or parking membership details have not been submitted 48 hours after your visit, the relevant tariff shall be £50 and shall be due at that point. This is to be paid within 28 days but will be reduced to £25 if paid within 14 days. The car park system is being operated on behalf of Betteshanger Park by Park With Ease Limited.

Any profits made from car parking (not fines) and membership go straight back into looking after Betteshanger. So every time you visit you know you are helping to look after the Park, preserve its heritage and promote a sustainable future.

We aim for Betteshanger to be fully accessible to all however due to the nature of the site and its terrain some areas are naturally more difficult to access.

All paths in main areas are hard surfaced, reasonably level and at a safe distance from open water.

Mobility scooters are welcome on surfaced paths. Our Visitor Centre has ramped access and fully accessible toilets. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout.

Many of our activities are accessible to a wide audience. Please download our full access statement and do not hesitate to contact us directly if you wish to discuss any specific needs.
