  • Duration: 6 Weeks
  • Session Length: 3 Hours

Structure:

  • 1 Hour: Obstacle & Challenge Course (teamwork, endurance, problem-solving)
  • 2 Hours: Outdoor Learning Adventure (skills, creativity, adventure activities)

Programme Highlights: – Builds confidence, resilience, and leadership – Combines physical, cognitive, and creative learning – Outdoor skills: navigation, strategy, observation, bushcraft – Suitable for mixed ages and abilities

Week 1: Adventure Foundations

  • Obstacle Course (1 Hour) – Crawling under nets, balance beams, climbing walls – Buddy carry and team relay challenges
  • Outdoor Learning (2 Hours) – Icebreaker activities and team-building games – Nature discovery: identify plants and animal signs – Personal goal-setting circle for the 6-week programme

Learning Focus: Teamwork, Communication, Confidence & Leadership

Week 2: Exploration & Orienteering

  • Obstacle Course (1 Hour) – Relay with map-based and direction challenges – Agility and timed coordination obstacles
  • Outdoor Learning (2 Hours) – Orienteering course using maps and compasses – Hidden checkpoint challenges – Create-your-own mini map for another team

Learning Focus: Navigation, Problem Solving, Spatial Awareness & Independence

Week 3: Bushcraft & Survival Skills

  • Obstacle Course (1 Hour) – Load-carry and climbing relay – Team supply transport challenges
  • Outdoor Learning (2 Hours) – Build shelters and practice knot-tying – Fire-lighting demonstrations (supervised) – build on existing techniques

Learning Focus: Bushcraft, Cooperation, Practical Science & Resilience

Week 4: Precision & Focus

  • Obstacle Course (1 Hour) – Accuracy relay: beanbags or small objects at targets – Balance and timing challenges
  • Outdoor Learning (2 Hours) – Target Archery: technique, safety, scoring. Camouflage and concealment challenge.

Learning Focus: Focus, Coordination, Patience, Observation & Applied Maths

Week 5: Strategy & Team Missions

  • Obstacle Course (1 Hour) – Team relay with problem-solving stations – Plan and complete timed challenges as a squad
  • Outdoor Learning (2 Hours) – Nerf or Gel Master Missions: capture the flag and defend bases – Base-building with natural materials – Reflection on strategy, teamwork, and leadership

Learning Focus: Leadership, Strategy, Teamwork & Problem Solving

Week 6: Celebration & Adventure Showcase

  • Obstacle Course (1 Hour) – Adventure circuit combining skills from all previous weeks – Peer-led mini challenges and personal best attempts
  • Outdoor Learning (2 Hours) – Campfire snacks: Choice activities: – Mini archery competition – Survival challenge: shelter rebuild – Creative craft: journey sticks, team flags, or medals – Closing Circle: awards, certificates, and reflection on personal goals
